Codex

Current Codex versions do not work with ozeye. Since Codex CLI 0.95.0 (February 2026), Codex only speaks the OpenAI Responses API (wire_api = "responses") and refuses wire_api = "chat" with the error "wire_api = "chat" is no longer supported". ozeye does not offer the Responses API yet. The last Codex CLI that supports the chat completions API is 0.94.0; the configuration below is for that version.

The Codex desktop app and the IDE extensions ship a current Codex and cannot be pointed at ozeye. For a terminal agent on ozeye today, use Claude Code, OpenCode or Hermes.

wire_api must be chat: ozeye serves the chat completions API, not the Responses API. Codex 0.94.0 prints a deprecation warning for it, which you can ignore. model is any chat model id from the models page; model_reasoning_effort maps onto the model's thinking controls where the deployment supports them.

Start codex in a project directory. Requests appear in Dashboard → Logs.

Troubleshooting

  • "wire_api = "chat" is no longer supported": your Codex is 0.95.0 or newer. Install 0.94.0 as above, or use another agent.
  • Missing API key or 401: Codex could not read the variable. Export it in the shell that runs codex.
  • Config ignored: you edited a project-level file. Codex reads ~/.codex/config.toml.
  • Model not found: copy the id exactly from the models page; there are no prefixes.
